There are lots of pictures if you scroll down. Send me pictures to post if you can and I will try to put them in right spot and label them. Give me a little info.I add new ones to the years that they correspond to. Later, you may even have to go to the "older posts" button.
I apologize if I missed your picture, misspelled your name, etc. I appreciate any corrections or feedback.
You can click on pictures to enlarge them, make them clearer or to print them. If you don't have luck and want copies, just email me.
I hope you enjoy this site and leave comments. I would love to keep in touch. The internet is a terrible thing to waste.

From Carolyn Burtis Mead
Hi, Thanks so much for the up-dates. Steve and I had planned on making this class get together, but my nephew was killed in a car accident and we had to go to Alabama. We'll sure try to make the next one. Carolyn
More News from Dave Heyl
Hi all,
"Thanks for the info on things and all the contacts. I have been on the sites but not lately as I have been busy. Good stuff there, I enjoyed looking at it all. Sounds like you all had some fun at gathering" (Carl Z.) and I totally agree with Carl. You know, I loved Paul Newman's "The Hustler", and I can't watch it without thinking and marveling at Carl Z. and his pool skills at the Prudenville Bolling Ally. (Hi Carl! )I talked with Jim (Wooten). He was sitting on the steps of some gas station (the meeting was pure chance). His wife came in halfway through our conversation. Jim, in addition to being successful, knew a whole lot more about the downside of success. He was, and remains, for me, a person worth emulating. As far as the desire to keep the class of "66* together and active, I want to thank Lewi for all the postings and the memories. Some psychologist once said (I think it was Morris Massey), "the person who we become was carved out of the first 10 years of our life." That may be an exaggeration, but I think it's closer to the truth than we want to admit. I know my time at HLHS was a defining moment in my life. I'm sorry I haven't been back to share. With the internet and all the work that has gone into reaching out to the "66 class," I really apprecisate the heart and mind of that goal and I would very much like to be part of the next reunion.Take care, dave heyl

A Note from Fast Eddie or Carl Z.
Hi All,
Thanks for the info on things and all the contacts. I have been on the sites but not lately as I have been busy. Good stuff there,I enjoyed looking at it all. Sounds like you all had some fun at gathering. Sorry we missed it. We went to the UP on vacation and were up there Friday in Mackinac City along the way. Should have stayed the night in HL and visited you all but we were antsy to get north. You know how it is. Hopefully I can make the next get together.
A while back when Jim was still alive I stopped down to see him but he he was gone to treatment so I left some money and a card for him and family. It wasn't long after that, he passed away. Hard to believe he is gone . He was a lot of fun in the old days.
I keep myself pretty busy these days with research work and I am on and a big part of a Reunion committee. I have been very active in my NCO Academy doings and currently I am getting ready for a Reunion in Ft Benning GA.in October. We have had two and I have been the MC at both and will be at this one .Two of us are doing most of the planning and work so it is hectic. I just got off the phone with retired Command Sgt Major Plumley who will be our guest speaker there. He was played by Sam Elliot in the movie "We Were Soldiers Once" .I am active in that group and also my own unit from Nam. We had our very first Reunion a year and a half ago and will meet again in April in St Louis. I was with an infantry company in Nam and was a squad leader and platoon sgt. They are doing a documentary on us and should finish it after this reunion. You may see it someday on tv. They will no doubt mention "Big Bad Bravo" in the headlines. One of my friends that was killed in Nams Mother and I have stayed in touch all these years . She became the National President of the Gold Star Mothers Of America in 2005. We went to her convention in Dallas. She is such a dear and will be at our Reunion also.
I have had some heart problems and a back surgery but seem to be hanging in there ok at present. Say hi to all and hope you are all doing well, "Fast Eddie"as Jim would call me-----Carl Z

Memorial Day weekend 2004, the garage sale from Sam Brunt

"Lee on the march back to the front.
He had just found out someone had ripped off a piece of stereo equipment that was stored in the chapel.
He was not a happy camper!!
In the background you can see the speakers, windows and garage doors have already been removed!
People had started ripping up tiles from the dance floor.
Lee signed hundreds of tiles. I helped him hall and clean the cement off some of them before signing.
Lee Kelly, Music Box, 1946-2004
Signing was done on a old card table in the restaurant. I have that card table!"
